Alcohol Beverage Training ("ABT," "we," "us," or "our") is a Colorado-based provider of alcohol seller and server certification training, operating at alcoholbeveragetraining.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you create an account, register for a class, take a certification exam, make a purchase, or contact us; how we use and protect that information; and the choices you have. By using our website and services, you agree to the practices described in this policy. Effective date: June 12, 2026.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the information needed to deliver training, examinations, and certification services. This includes:
- Account data: your name, email address, phone number, and, if you choose to provide it, your employer or company name.
- Organization affiliation: the organization you are associated with, including when an organization purchases class seats on your behalf.
- Class registrations and attendance: the classes you register for, date changes you make, and your attendance records.
- Exam results: your exam scores, pass or fail outcomes, and retake attempts.
- Certificates: your certificate number, issue date, expiry date, and the certificate PDF issued in your legal name.
- Payment transactions: records of your orders, payments, promo code use, and refunds. Card payments are handled by our merchant payment gateway; ABT never stores full card numbers or CVV codes.
- Support tickets: the messages and replies you exchange with our support staff through your account.
- Contact form submissions: your name, email address, subject, and message, along with your IP address and browser user-agent collected at the time of submission.
- Email notifications: records of service emails we send you, including verification codes, booking confirmations, and certificate expiry reminders.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above for the following purposes:
- Delivering live instructor-led classes, whether online via Zoom, in person, or hybrid, including providing meeting links and managing class date changes.
- Administering certification exams immediately following class, scoring them, and managing retake attempts.
- Issuing certificates, maintaining certification records, and operating the public certificate-verification lookup described in Section 3.
- Processing payments, pay-later check or ACH arrangements, promo codes, refunds, and partial refunds, and managing organization bulk seat purchases and access codes.
- Responding to support tickets and contact form inquiries.
- Sending the service emails described in Section 6.
- Maintaining accurate training and certification records as evidence of certification for employers and regulators, and meeting our legal and regulatory obligations under Colorado law.
3. Public Certificate Verification
Certificates issued by ABT carry a unique certificate number and remain valid for two years. We operate a public certificate-verification lookup so that employers and regulators can confirm a certificate is genuine. The lookup works narrowly: a person who already holds a certificate number may enter that number and see whether it corresponds to a valid, current ABT certificate. The lookup does not allow anyone to search by name, browse certificate holders, or retrieve contact details, exam scores, or any other personal information. It confirms the validity of a specific certificate number and nothing more.
4. Payment Information
Card payments are processed by our merchant payment gateway. Your card details are submitted to and handled by the gateway; ABT never stores full card numbers or CVV codes on its own systems. We retain transaction records such as the order amount, date, payment method type, and payment status, which we need for receipts, refunds, and accounting. If you pay later by check or ACH, we record the payment when it is received. Refunds and partial refunds are processed by our back office to your original payment method: card refunds are issued through the gateway, and check payments are refunded by check. A refunded or cancelled order releases the associated class seat and deactivates any unredeemed access codes.
5. Third-Party Services and Cookies
We use a small number of third-party services to operate the platform:
- Merchant payment gateway: processes card payments and card refunds on our behalf.
- Google reCAPTCHA: protects our forms against automated abuse and may collect device and interaction signals to do so.
- Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics: help us understand how visitors use the site through cookies and similar technologies.
- Zoom: hosts online classes; when you attend an online or hybrid class, you connect to Zoom using the meeting link we provide.
- Email delivery: a third-party email service transmits the service emails we send.
Our website uses cookies for two purposes: essential cookies that keep you signed in to your account, and analytics cookies set through Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics that measure site usage. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the site, such as your account area and checkout, from working.
6. Email Notifications
We send service emails that are part of delivering our training and certification services. These include email verification codes when you create or update your account, booking confirmations when you register for a class or change your class date, payment and refund confirmations, support ticket replies, and certificate expiry reminders. Because certificates are valid for two years and recertification matters to both the certificate holder and the person who trained them, expiry reminders are sent to the student and to the student's instructor. These messages are transactional and necessary to the service; they are not third-party marketing.
7. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We share personal information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers: with the third-party services listed in Section 5, to the extent needed for them to perform their function (for example, the payment gateway receives your card details to process a payment, and Zoom receives what is needed to admit you to an online class).
- Your employer or organization: when an organization purchases class seats and issues you an access code, that organization can see the registration and certification status of the staff whose seats it purchased. This allows employers to confirm their staff have completed required training.
- Legal requirements: where disclosure is required by law, regulation, legal process, or a lawful request from a regulatory authority.
8. Data Retention and Security
Training and certificate records exist to evidence certification, so we keep them for as long as needed to serve that purpose, including supporting the public certificate-verification lookup and recertification. Payment transaction records are retained as required for accounting and legal obligations. Support tickets and contact form submissions are retained as business records of our communications with you. We protect personal information using reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encrypted connections to the website, access controls that limit administrative access to authorized staff, and the payment-handling design described in Section 4 under which full card numbers and CVV codes never reach our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information in a manner appropriate to its sensitivity.
9. Your Rights and Choices
You may exercise the following rights by contacting us using the details in Section 12:
- Access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: ask us to correct inaccurate account information. Because certificates are issued to named individuals and serve as compliance records, a legal-name change requested after a certificate has been issued requires admin approval before the certificate record is updated.
- Deletion: request deletion of your personal information. We will honor deletion requests except where we must retain records to evidence certification, complete a transaction, or meet legal record-keeping obligations, and we will tell you which records we must keep and why.
10. Children's Privacy
Our training is intended for people who work, or intend to work, in alcohol sales or service. The service is not directed to, and accounts may not be created by, anyone below the legal working age for alcohol service in their jurisdiction. If we learn that we have collected personal information from someone below that age, we will delete it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. When we do, we will post the revised policy on this page with a new effective date. Material changes will be communicated through the website or by email. This policy and our handling of personal information are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, USA.
