Why get certified

The person who serves the drink carries real responsibility.

When something goes wrong with alcohol service, the consequences do not stop at your employer. As the person who poured or sold the drink, you can be on the line too. Certification gives you the judgment to handle the hard calls: the borderline ID, the guest who has clearly had enough, the friend who wants to push it. Get it right and you protect yourself, your job, and the people you serve.

How it works
Certified in an afternoon, not a semester.
  • Pick a class
    Choose a live class that fits your schedule, in person or streaming from anywhere in Colorado. Live streaming is $35 per person.
  • Attend live
    Join a real instructor for about two and a half to three hours. Questions are welcome the whole way through.
  • Take the exam
    Sit the exam right after class ends. You need 70 percent to pass, and a fail gets you one retake on the spot.
  • Get your certificate
    Pass and your certificate is issued immediately. Download it, keep it in your account, and it stays valid for two years.

    ABT classes are taught live by experienced instructors and were built by Patrick Maroney, retired Director of the Colorado Liquor Enforcement Division. You are not memorizing a quiz.
