This Refund Policy explains when a class purchase qualifies for a full or partial refund, when a free class-date change is the better option, how refunds are returned to you, and how to submit a request. By purchasing a class seat, organization bulk seats, or any other service from ABT, you agree to the terms below. This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, USA.
1. Scope of This Policy
This policy applies to all purchases made through the ABT store, including individual class seats, organization bulk seat purchases that mint access codes for staff, recertification classes, and Train the Trainer programs. It applies regardless of how you paid: by card through our merchant payment gateway, or by check or ACH under our pay-later option. Where an order was discounted by a promo code, refund amounts are calculated from the amount you actually paid, not the list price.
2. Cancellation by the Student
You may cancel a class registration and receive a full refund of the amount paid for that seat, provided we receive your cancellation request at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time of the class. The request time is measured from when your support ticket is submitted through your account, or when your email or phone request reaches us during business hours.
- Requests received 24 hours or more before class start: full refund of the seat price paid.
- Requests received less than 24 hours before class start: not refundable, except as described in Section 4.
A cancelled order releases your reserved class seat. If your order included unredeemed access codes, those codes are deactivated when the order is cancelled or refunded.
3. Free Class-Date Change Instead of Cancelling
In most cases you do not need to cancel at all. You may change your registration to another available class date at no charge, subject to the class-change allowance on your account. Same-day changes are permitted when seats are available in the new session. If you simply cannot attend the date you booked, changing your class date preserves your full payment and is almost always the better choice. Date changes do not generate a refund; your payment carries over to the new session. You can change your class up to two times without extra charge. The third change will require you to pay a new class fee.
4. No-Shows, Late Cancellations, and Emergencies
No refund is issued for a no-show, or for any cancellation requested after the class has started. As a discretionary exception, ABT may issue a refund or a free rebooking for a documented emergency, such as a medical emergency, a death in the family, or a similar serious and unforeseeable event. Requests under this section must be submitted within 7 days of the missed class and include reasonable supporting documentation. ABT's decision on emergency exceptions is final.
5. Exam Results Are Not Grounds for a Refund
The fee you pay is for the live training class and the administration of the certification exam, not for a guaranteed certification outcome. The exam is taken immediately after class with a 70% passing score, and a failed first attempt includes one retake taken immediately after the failed attempt. If you do not pass after both attempts, the class fee is not refundable, in whole or in part. Failing the exam, or choosing not to sit the exam after attending class, does not entitle you to a refund.
6. Classes Cancelled or Rescheduled by ABT
If ABT cancels a class for any reason, including instructor unavailability, low enrollment, or technical failure of an online session, you choose the remedy:
- a full refund of the amount paid for the affected seat, returned per Section 9; or
- a free rebooking into another available class date of your choice, which does not count against your class-change allowance.
If ABT materially reschedules a class (a changed date, start time, or a change between online, in-person, and hybrid formats) and the new arrangement does not work for you, the same two options apply.
7. Organization Bulk Purchases and Access Codes
Organizations that purchase seats in bulk receive access codes their staff redeem to register for class. Refunds on bulk orders work as follows:
- Unredeemed access codes are refundable on the same basis as Section 2: a refund request received at least 24 hours before the class start date associated with the codes (or at any time, where codes are not yet tied to a specific class date) qualifies for a refund of those unredeemed seats. Refunded codes are deactivated and can no longer be redeemed.
- Redeemed access codes follow the individual-seat rules in Sections 2 through 5, applied to the registration created by the redemption. The named student's cancellation, change, no-show, and exam outcomes are governed by those sections.
Bulk-order refunds are issued to the organization that placed the order, to the original payment method, per Section 9.
8. Partial Refunds
ABT supports partial refunds. If your order covers multiple seats and only some of them qualify for a refund (for example, two of five staff cancel more than 24 hours before class, or some access codes remain unredeemed), ABT refunds the qualifying portion and the remainder of the order stays in force. Partial refunds are calculated per seat based on the amount actually paid for that seat after any promo code or bulk discount was applied across the order.
9. Refund Method and Timing
All refunds are returned to the original payment method. ABT does not issue refunds to a different card, account, or person than the one that paid.
- Card payments are refunded through our merchant payment gateway to the card used at checkout. Most card refunds appear on your statement within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your card issuer.
- Check and ACH payments are refunded by check mailed to the purchaser. Please allow 10 to 14 business days for the refund check to be issued and delivered.
If an order was placed under our pay-later option and the invoice has not yet been paid, a qualifying cancellation simply voids the unpaid balance for the cancelled seats; no money changes hands.
10. How to Request a Refund or Date Change
You may request a refund, cancellation, or class-date change in any of the following ways:
- Open a support ticket from your account on alcoholbeveragetraining.com. This is the fastest method and creates a timestamped record of your request.
- Reach us through our contact page.
To protect your account, we may verify your identity before processing a refund. We confirm every approved refund by email to the address on the account or order.
11. Changes to This Policy
ABT may update this Refund Policy from time to time. The version in effect at the time of your purchase governs that purchase. The current version, with its effective date, is always posted on alcoholbeveragetraining.com. Material changes apply only to purchases made after the change takes effect. Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable rights you hold under Colorado law.
